Equity Analyst (m/f/d)

Permanent position, full-time. Part-time possible. Frankfurt am Main with home office.

VASRO is an equity research house in Frankfurt. We cover listed companies across Europe, the Gulf and Asia, from biotechnology to industrials and consumer goods. We build our models ourselves and publish under our own name, with a target price and the reasoning behind it. Our research appears on Smartkarma and in the German financial press.

Why this role is different

Most analysts spend a career on the same thirty domestic names that twenty other people already write about. Here you work on companies almost nobody follows internationally, in markets the large houses do not cover. For many of them, your analysis will be one of the very few that exists. That is demanding, and it is exactly why the work carries weight.

The work

  • You take your own companies, from the first model to the published report.
  • You read the primary sources: annual reports, prospectuses, regulatory filings, earnings call transcripts. Not other people’s summaries.
  • You build the valuation from scratch, DCF and peer group, and you can defend every assumption in it.
  • You speak to CEOs and CFOs, and you ask the questions the annual report leaves out.
  • You write the analysis. Your name goes on it.

Languages

Fluent English is essential. It is our working language with companies and investors. German for the office and the home market. Any further language is a real advantage, particularly Arabic, French, Mandarin or Japanese. Whoever reads in the original language finds what the translation loses.

What we do not promise

This is not an easy job. The markets set the deadlines, not us. If a company reports at seven, the day starts at six. In some weeks there is no work-life balance in the usual sense.

What there is, is harmony. We know when it gets tight, and we know when you are off. Between reporting seasons the pace eases and you can work from anywhere.

Travel is part of it. Our companies are not all in Germany.

What you bring

  • A degree in finance, economics or a natural science.
  • You can build a valuation model without a template and explain every cell in it.
  • You write clearly enough that a fund manager understands the point in three minutes.
  • More important than years on a CV: one piece of analysis you would still stand behind today.

What you get

  • Your own responsibility from the first report, not support work for someone else to sign.
  • Direct access to boards that most analysts wait years to get.
  • Markets and sectors that make your CV unlike anyone else’s.
  • Published work under your name that you carry for the rest of your career.
  • A salary we discuss openly in the first conversation, with no games.
